This is the story of what it is really like to search for the most elusive animal in North America, an animal that clearly does not want to be found. Join author Michael Mayes and the men and women of the North American Wood Ape Conservancy on their two-decades-long quest to discover the truth behind the greatest mystery of the natural world.
“The events detailed in this book provide some of the best reasons to be hopeful that a resolution to the Sasquatch mystery is close at hand. “What you’re about to read is a meticulously documented collection of observations made by people—academics, wildlife professionals, and scientists, among others—whom I consider to be among the most reliable individuals to have ever pursued the Sasquatch… “The man telling the story, Michael Mayes, has been at the forefront of this endeavor since its inception… “When the day comes that people say ‘They proved that the Sasquatch exists,’ you, the reader, probably won’t have to wonder who ‘they’ are. You will have already met them right here in the pages of this book.”— from the Foreword by Matt Pruitt

Audio clips:
“Intrepid India Whoop”: July 17, 2018. The first whoop is the animal. The second, which is cut off, is Michael Mayes’ teammate, Shannon Mason, answering. The quality is a bit wonky as the batteries in the recorder were very low; still, the whoop can be clearly heard.
“T-Rex Roars”: June 17, 2017. Just after 10:00 that night, Echo Team heard a “strange scream” from the northeast followed by a second scream. “The screams might be more accurately described as roars,” Ken Helmer wrote in the field notes. “They seem much more menacing when played back than when we heard them in person. Disturbing.” Helmer dubbed them “T-Rex roars."
“Rain of Rocks”: June 26, 2015. Alton Higgins and Phil Burrows were in the cabin trying to rest, when they were awakened at 2:00 a.m. by rocks big and small bombarding their cabin for an hour straight. This is an abridged version. The investigators were unable to see anything in the surrounding darkness.
